Dragon – A Poem

By Dawn Shuler

Sleeping
Dragons of green
Thin green forested spines draping across the land
Protecting
Guarding

Their drowsy rumbles only whispers of their roars
They will sleep until needed

And then they’ll wake, wary, angry
Thrusting out of the ground
Truly on guard
Fierce

Ancient
Awake
Dragons of green
Wings unfurled
Protecting
Guarding
